I am so sorry ...
In the morning, on the way to kindergarten, I met a lady with a three-year-old girl. They live on the next street and I register them from the playground behind the block. The girl is of kindergarten age, so I was happy that she is apparently starting the kindergarten that my daughter attends.
In the morning, on the way to kindergarten, I met a lady with a three-year-old girl. They live on the next street and I register them from the playground behind the block. The girl is of kindergarten age, so I was happy that she is apparently starting the kindergarten that my daughter attends.
"Hey, are you going to kindergarten too?" I asked the little girl. The little girl smiled adorably, but my mother answered me. "They won't take us to your kindergarten. The little one has Down syndrome". A tear glistened in her eye and she quickly looked away. I remained speechless.
I waved goodbye to them and each of us went on, somewhere else. I go to kindergarten and she doesn't know where.
I can't get out of it since morning. To OUR kindergarten? And where is THEIR kindergarten? He lives a few meters from us!
I don't want it like that! I no longer want to live in a country where we silently tolerate being US and THEM. OUR and THEIR kindergartens. If these parents had a healthy baby, would THEY be US? And if I had a child with a disability, I would immediately be THEM and OUR kindergarten would no longer be OURS?
